ABOUT US > Meet Mary

Caterer to the Stars Mary Giuliani continues to expand her presence among high profile celebrities and the fashion elite. On any given night, she can be spotted pleasing the palettes of clients ranging from Christie’s, JCrew, Fendi and Carolina Herrera to Sheryl Crow, Jerry Seinfeld, Bradley Cooper, Justin Timberlake and The Rolling Stones, among many others. Mary has quickly gained a loyal cult-like following for her signature “minis,” creative food and drink pairing menus and innovative tray design. Her clients look to Mary to “break the rules” on entertaining norms and relish in her unique and whimsical spin on entertaining traditions.

“I am named after both my Grandmothers; Mary and Lucille. Mary was a traditional housewife, an amazing cook, homemaker and mother. Lucille was a modern woman for her times, a maverick entrepreneur with a dynamic business savvy who owned and ran several successful hotels. I consider myself a delicious mixed cocktail of these two extraordinary women. I am proud to be a modern working girl with deep rooted entertaining traditions.” Mary loves to mix the old with the new. Her personal style is one that is chic but always incorporates some sort of fun or playful take on dining and entertaining. She encourages her clients to think out of the box and to dazzle their guests with unexpected surprises throughout their events or private home gathering.

Mary is a firm believer that parties should always make you laugh. “If you get invited to Mary’s house for dinner, it is never the same, she will surprise you with margarita/bingo night, she will set her table using old records as placemats and always encourages some type of performance. One time, she moved all the furniture from her house into the woods of her backyard, handed us a drink and guided us on an adventure to find the dinner table. She even has a Ferris wheel that she serves food on, she is constantly pushing the envelope to make each dining experience a unique one. It also doesn’t hurt that she keeps her guests entertained all night with her humorous stories. She just makes things fun.

Mary graduated from Georgetown University with a degree in English/Theater and spent a year in Florence, Italy studying Italian food, wine and culture. She often jokes and says she graduated the prestigious university “magna cum party”.

Upon graduation Mary pursued her dream of becoming an actress but made the decision to leave the stage for the party. With an entrepreneurial spirit, Mary and her husband Ryan founded Mary Giuliani Catering & Events in 2005. Quickly, she became one of the most sought-after caterers and event planners in New York. Mary Giuliani has been featured in Hamptons Magazine, People Style Watch, People Magazine, Manhattan Magazine, Real Simple, Elegant Bride, Page Six Magazine, Glamour, InStyle, InStyle Weddings, Modern Bride, Redbook, Bride Magazine and BizBash, among other high profile media outlets. In 2008, she was named as one of the Fashions 50 Most Powerful People during fashion week by the New York Daily News and recently named “Top 25 Trendsetter” of 2009 by Modern Bride Magazine.

She has appeared on Plum TV, Lifetime’s “Get Married” with Colin Cowie, TLC’s “Wedded to Perfection’, NBC’s LX Show and CW’s Morning Show with Tamsen Fadal. Mary will make her TODAY show debut with Kathie Lee and Hoda Kobe in May 2011.

She is working on her first book titled “Can The Waiters Come Dressed as Pilgrims” and a one woman show set to debut this summer titled “If You Can’t Join ‘Em Serve ‘Em”.

Mary resides in Manhattan and Woodstock, NY with her husband Ryan and their two very “delicious” dogs Hudson & Stanley.
